Current Restoration Overview:
• Restoration: Robbins Design Studio and iDesign Architectural are currently developing
architectural plans and specifications for the full roof replacement and the full window
replacement. The State grant requires an RFP process, which will be completed after the
drawings are secured. We hope to have permitting documents submitted late this year or early 2024
• Approvals: Since Historic Stanton is a National Historic Structure and State of Florida
funding is being utilized, all drawings will require approval through the State Historic
Preservation Office and through the City of Jacksonville’s Historic Division through a
Certificate of Appropriateness. If completed simultaneously, we can expect this process
to take approximately 30-60 days.
• Safety: Historic Stanton will soon go under contract for boarding up all of the first-floor
windows and certain doors accessible from the first floor or by exterior stairways. This
work should be completed by November 2023. We will also begin the renovation of the
daycare facility before the end of the year
2024 Goals:
• Complete the full roof replacement to secure the building from water intrusion.
• Complete the full window replacement to secure the building envelope.
• Complete door replacement as needed to secure the building envelope.
• Remediate damage caused by water intrusion and vandals on the ground floor.
• Continue fundraising efforts for the next phases of necessary building restoration work
utilizing multiple strategies -- applying for new grant opportunities and seeking private funding.
